Three years ago, right before WrestleMania XXVI, I interviewed William “Paul Bearer” Moody while working at WWE Magazine. The interview was strictly about Moody’s experience at various WrestleManias and of course working with the Undertaker. I’m not entirely too sure about this, but I think this might be one of the few out of character interviews WWE Magazine did with “Bearer.”
Moody was extremely polite, humble and just a sweet man throughout both interview sessions. I remember him being very excited to do an interview with the Mag at the time, which really blew my mind. As a wrestling fan going up, I was really excited to interview the larger than life Paul Bearer, and yet, he was excited.
One of the best things Moody told me during the interview was something we couldn’t print. He told me how during the early days while on the road with ‘Taker, Moody would carry a small urn to ring (smaller than the one in the photo above), and Taker would take occasional swigs of the urn—which was filled with Jack Daniels. Wrestling is awesome.
For the next 30 days, I will grow a moustache to raise awareness for men’s health issues, specifically prostate and testicular cancer initiatives. This movement is known as Movember. Men across the country shave their face clean on 11/1 and then grow and groom a moustache for the month. You can donate directly to my page and you can click donate to me or donate to my team (it’s all the same, really). My team is named ‘Stache Gordon.Your hard earn cash goes entirely to the Movember and Prostate Cancer Foundations. Thank you and spread the word!
When the winds died down last night, at about 11 p.m., I drove down to Dumbo/Brooklyn Bridge Park with a few friends to see the blacked-out cityscape from across the river. The view was eerie and surreal—a bit like the mid-point of any apocalyptic movie ever set in New York.
